What is Aluminum Plate? An aluminum plate is a kind of aluminum metal product. Aluminum ingots are melted and added to different alloys. It is gotten after the Aluminum products are processed through casting-rolling or hot-rolling, cold-rolling, annealing, cross-cutting and other processes.
By using the plastically processing methods to roll, extrude, stretch, and forge aluminum billets into plate-shaped aluminum products. In order to ensure the final performance of the plate, the finished product is treated by annealing, solution treatment, quenching, natural aging, and artificial aging treatment.
By adding various alloying elements in the aluminum plate processing, it can improve the mechanical properties and chemical indicators of the aluminum plate.
Alloy aluminum plate has some special properties that pure aluminum plate does not have. Wide range of applications. Such as aerospace equipment, shipbuilding, auto parts, architectural decoration, hardware accessories.
Aluminum Plates two categories
As per alloy composition, it can be divided into
- High purity aluminum sheet (rolled from high purity aluminum with content over 99.9)
- Pure aluminum sheet (basically rolled from pure aluminum)
- Aluminum alloy sheets (consisting of aluminum and auxiliary alloys. Usually a series of aluminum copper, aluminum manganese, aluminum-silicon, aluminum-magnesium.)
- Composite aluminum sheet or quinone welded sheet (special purpose aluminum sheet material obtained by means of composite materials)
- Aluminum composite sheet (Aluminum clad sheet used for special purposes)
As per thickness, it can be divided into
- Thin Sheet 0.15-2.0mm
- Conventional plate 2.0-6.0mm
- Medium Plate 6.0-25.0mm
- Thick plate 25-200mm

Alloy Aluminum Plate classification
Alloy aluminum plates can be divided into 2000 series Al-Cu alloy aluminum plates according to the main alloying elements, 3000 series Al-Mn alloys, 5000 series Al-Mg alloys, 6000 series AL-Mg-Si alloys, and 7000 series AL-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys.
2000 series alloy
The 2000 series aluminum alloy has a high content of Cu element. It has a high hardness. The 2000 series aluminum alloys are mainly used in the aviation field.
3000 series alloy
The 3000 series aluminum alloy is made of Mn as the main component. It has an excellent anti-rust function. It is used in humid environments such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and under cars. 3000 aluminum alloy is a commonly used alloy series.
5000 series alloy
The 5000 series aluminum alloys belong to the more commonly used alloy series. The main element is Mg. It is characterized by low density, high tensile strength and high elongation. 6000 series alloy
6000 series aluminum alloys mainly contain Mg and Si. 6000 series alloys have excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance.
7000 series alloy
7000 series aluminum alloys mainly contain Zn, Mg, and Cu. 7000 series alloys are super hard aluminum alloys. Has good wear resistance. It is often used in the manufacture of aircraft.
